New Surcharges

08/07/2010
Hyundai has announced a new Transport Congestion Surcharge (TCS) and Tri-Axle surcharge to be introduced with effect from 1st August 2010.

The TCS charge relates to cargo discharged in the UK from Asia and South West Asia. It has been introduced due to the serious transport availability problems affecting UK haulage and rail sectors. The charge will be GBP 57.00 per container (20'/40'/40'HC and all types of specialised equipment).

The new Tri-Axle surcharge will affect cargo collected in the UK that is destined for Asia and South West Asia but will affect only cargo where the weight is either 24,000kgs or above per 20' and 22,000kgs or above per 40'. The surcharge will cost GBP 25.00 per container (20'/40'/40'HC and all types of specialised equipment).

Once introduced on 1st August these charges will be in place until further notice but will be reviewed on a monthly basis.

It is looking likely that peak season surcharges affecting Asia/India Sub-continent to North Europe will be introduced around 15th July. Depending on the shipping line, these will be between USD 250-750 per TEU and USD 500-1000 per FEU.

Should you have any questions regarding the new surcharges please feel free to contact your local office.
